Specsavers Ópticas stores have collected a total of 389 kilos of food, toiletries and household products to be donated to those in need in their communities.

The nine stores on the Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and in Mallorca have got behind the Operation Kilo campaign and collected food during the months of November and December for Spain’s Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL). FESBAL operate throughout the country and have a network of 55 regional food banks where they collect and store donated food and essential items. These are then distributed via local charities and associations to ensure all donations reach vulnerable people in their local areas.

The Specsavers Ópticas stores on the Costa Blanca collaborated with the food bank for the Alicante province (Banco de Alimentos Alicante) to ensure the food donations got to those people who really need them. On the Costa del Sol they worked closely with Bancosol and in Santa Ponça they collected items for the Mallorca Food Bank (Banco de Alimentos de Mallorca).

The store directors were delighted with the response to the campaign and thanked their clients and local residents for supporting those less fortunate than themselves by bringing donations into the store. They were also happy to see that many people who brought in food donations also took advantage of the opportunity to have a free eye test and check their vision and eye health was good ahead of the Christmas holidays.
