Help and frequently asked questions

What is the treatment for age related macular degeneration?

Answer:

In the last few years treatments have become available for certain types of Wet AMD, but there currently isn’t any treatment for Dry AMD. In Wet AMD, new blood vessels grow at the macula and these vessels leak. Laser treatment can be used to seal the leaky vessels. There are also newer treatments that involve injecting the eye with drugs – for example ‘Lucentis’ that can prevent or even reverse the damage caused by Wet AMD.
