Help and frequently asked questions

What is a tonometer?

Answer:

An instrument used to measure intraocular pressure (IOP). Non contact tonometers use a puff of air to flatten the cornea. The machine then measures how much the air has flattened the cornea and from this can calculate the IOP. It doesn't hurt but there may be a loud click before the puff of air is delivered.
